Merry Christmas everyone!! We just ate, opened all of our presents, and now everyone has gone home. We are now putting Owen down for bed, and to tell you the truth, today was really great. Dan and I were able to go to coffee this morning (even if we had to cut it short cus of Owen’s impatience lol), then we went home and cooked, got ready for family to come over, and we watched some Christmas movies. We all got some really great gifts, at least I know that Owen and I did! But the most important thing is knowing that everyone had a great time! We had a really yummy feast and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon version). Owen got a couple of hoodies, some toys, books, movies, a maraca and shaker egg (Santa’s stocking stuffer to Owen), a rocking horse from Grandma, and a gift basket from Santa full of clothes, Disney Sing-a-long tapes, socks, and a toy ring of keys (Owen LOVES to play with our actual keys, so we Santa figured it’d be better for Owen to have his own).

Dan opened up a CD for Owen at his credit union and I made a blanket for him. Owen really really loved his blanket 😀 as soon as he saw it and felt it, he started to lay down and curl up close to it. 🙂 That was the best part of Christmas for me! 🙂 I bought the fabric for the blanket at Jo-Ann Fabric and used my new sewing machine to assemble it. It is SUPER soft and I might put a satin trim around it (I have the binding, but can’t decide if I’d/Owen would like it).

I got Dan a Magic Bullet (for work), a homemade coupon book, a Starbucks giftcard, and some nice soap from Lush. Dan got me giftcards to Forever 21, H&M, lots of kitchen stuff, a Paula Deen calendar and a Paula Deen notepad (I love Paula Deen LOL!!).

We also made our own Christmas cards too! I took an idea I saw on Pinterest and Dan, Owen and I made them! They turned out real good!

We had such a great day and I’m really really pleased with how Owen’s first Christmas turned out! 😀

Hi! Sooo last week I didn’t post at all because I started my new job. I’m watching two boys (plus Owen!!) during the week. One kid is 3 years old and the other is 10 months (5 days older than Owen). They’re a handful, but this past week went much better than I was expecting!

In all honesty, Owen is the most demanding out of all three. We are in a new environment and he has to share me with two other kiddos, so he is not liking it to say the least. He cries every time I leave the room and oftentimes fusses just so I can hold him. It’s very frustrating. But, I have faith that he’ll adjust…and I just need to be patient. 🙂

Another thing is, my time with Dan and alone time with Owen is being cut down drastically. I get home after Dan does (around 630ish), we eat dinner, and then pretty soon it is bath/bed time for Owen (between 730 and 8), then bed time for us.

Please be patient with me as I get in a groove and figure out a routine with work, family time, housework, working out, getting presents ready, and posting on this blog. 🙂

So what’s new aside from my new job? Remember our advent calendar I made for December? Yeah, we lasted about 10 days and haven’t done a single activity since then. Not because we don’t have the time, actually it’s because Dan doesn’t want to do it lol :/ I just wish he would’ve told me that he didn’t care about it earlier when I was making it, instead of getting me excited to be doing this and putting in the time and effort to create it. So I guess I’ll make one when Owen’s older and do it then. Dan’s not invited to join us then LOL >:)

Also, now that I am actually getting an income I am able to pay off the rest of the medical bills from having Owen! It’s not much (about $700), but when I only had a few hundred dollars coming in every month it really was a burden to try to pay it off plus home bills and Owen’s necessities. So I am SO happy to be getting this bill taken care of!

Another thing that I’ve been doing lately is crafting. Sewing and making things – I’m sewing Owen a baby blanket for Christmas, we’re making Christmas cards, I have fabric for a throw, and there’s a project I’m getting ideas for, but it’s a secret for now 😉 Sewing and crafting is really really soothing for me, but unfortunately that is another thing that has been put on the back burner for now (until I get my schedule figured out).

As for Owen? He is taking steps now and has been slowly learning how to for a while now. I am not saying he’s walking yet, full on, but he can take like 4 steps in a row at times. Very exciting stuff!! He has 7 teeth (four on top, three on bottom), can wave, and clap his hands! His favorite words are “mama”, “dada”, and crying. Oh wait, that’s not a word lol :/

In conclusion, I’m leaving you all with a cute pic of Owen 😉

So sorry for the lack of posts this week. I have not been feeling well at all, and writing had been sorta the last thing on my mind.

The Vet
My mom has a dog named Humphrey.

We’re not entirely sure what’s wrong with him, but he’s acting like he’s in pain. So we took him to the vet and are currently waiting for the results from his X-rays.

Owen really likes Humphrey. Whenever he starts barking yapping, Owen starts laughing lol. When we go over to my mom’s place, Owen will always stare at Humphrey and is so intrigued by him (as you can see in the pic above). This was Owen’s first time at the vet, and it didn’t go too well. In fact, Owen was so bored (and fussy) that Dan ended up having to drive over and get him before the appointment was over. :/

Oh Christmas Tree
We put up our tree and decorated it last Saturday!! How do you think it looks? 🙂

Only 4 this week!

Somehow I completely forgot to post about Owen’s 8 month handprint tile from Paintpots!

We chose a blueish/purple color to mix things up a bit. 🙂 I think it turned out pretty well!

I love Christmas. It is by far my favorite holiday. Christmas is the only holiday where I actually decorate our home and really get into the holiday cheer. 🙂

One of the things I saw on Pinterest was to make an advent calendar of activities to do with your family or loved one. One activity for each day leading up to Christmas, starting with December 1st.

Yes, I made that lol. There are some really fancy ones out there, but since this is our first year doing this I wanted to test it out. If we like it then I’ll spend more time, money and effort in making a nicer looking one. But for now this is what we have!

Here’s what each day looks like:

20121128-135823.jpgCheerio old chap 😉

Doesn’t it seem like Thanksgiving was ages ago?! Here’s what I’m thankful for that happened last week:

• Thanksgiving went well!

• Got some Christmas shopping done! Still have a lot to do, but getting a head start feels good!

• I’m so thankful that I’m able to take care of Owen at home while he’s getting over being sick.

• Dan had a long weekend and we were able to spend it together and just chill and relax! 🙂

• Yesterday Owen and I were able to spend some quality time with Grandma and Aunt Jazz 🙂

• Today, Owen said “mama”!! He has sorta babbled it before but wouldn’t say it again when we asked him to. Today he said it about a dozen times! (I was so in shock that he repeated it for me that I kept asking and asking him haha!)

Fellow mommy blogger, Meghan, wrote about what she would do if she won the lottery (which is up to $500 million now). Just for fun I thought I’d do the same! After all, Dan and I did buy a ticket lol 😉

• First things first – Dan and I agreed that we would split our winnings 50/50. We did that when we won $7 at the Portland Meadows, and we plan on doing that if we win anything bigger too. 😉

• Debt – We’d pay off any and all debt attached to our names.

• School – I’d finish up my schooling and start on my career. I was taking the real estate courses before I got pregnant, and only have six left before I can study up and take the state exam. So close to finishing, but financially it seems so far away.

• Home – We’d buy a house. Not a huge mansion or anything extravagant like that, but something bigger than what we have now, with our own yard. Not just a little yard out front, but enough land so we wouldn’t have to worry about neighbors being close. We would ideally like to live sorta out in the middle of nowhere, but still somewhat close in. We’d have a big shed for Dan to do all of his work in (for his boat and car). We’d have a big garden where we’d gather our veggies for dinner. And inside, we’d have a big kitchen with plenty of counter space and cupboards for us to neatly organize everything and for us to be able to cook together and not get frustrated whenever we’d bump into each other lol. We’d have plenty of beds for family to sleep over for the holidays (so they wouldn’t have to drive home late at night).

• We’d have more kids. At least one or two more. Maybe 8 haha 😉

• We’d set up trust funds for Owen, family, and create ones for future kids (and if we don’t have them then we’ll have that money saved up for later!). We’d have Owen’s schooling completely set aside and taken care of.

• I’d buy my mom a house, or something similar (it depends on what she wanted).

• I’d buy my dad a gold Cadillac, because ever since I was really little I remember him saying how he has always wanted one.

• I’d give money to help each of my siblings out. Whether it be school debt or whatever!

• Giving – I’d take a percentage of my share and divvy it up to organizations or people in need. Our church, some theater companies in town, and then I’d make anonymous donations to friends (I stole that idea from Dan!).

• Travel – Dan and I would travel. We’d go all over the world. We always talk about going to different places like France, Germany, Tel Aviv – any place we see in a movie, magazine, or hear about we always talk about what it’d be like to go there together. And when Owen turns 5 or so, we will go to Disneyland lol. It’ll be Owen’s and my first time!

• I’d fix up the Rav4. It’s a great little car but needs some TLC right now :/

• Savings – I’d set up accounts so I couldn’t touch the money until a certain date (just to make sure I didn’t sneak some out earlier).

My dad and I were talking about winning the lottery after we ate thanksgiving dinner. After telling him what I’d do with it, he said that I’d be happy with only winning $1 million. That is very true, but if we end up winning more than that, my hope is that we won’t go crazy and blow it all on us. What’s the fun of only spending it on yourself??

What would you do if you won the lottery? Comment or write your own post!
